Acid Reflux Infants

Do you have an acid reflux problem? If you do, then you likely have suffered through many days with that feeling in your throat. It can lead to larger problems, and it's time that you took control over your life and your acid reflux. There are ways to make sure this problem is gone for good, so keep reading.

Maintaining a healthy weight can help cure your GERD symptoms. Your sphincter muscle at the lower end of the esophagus loses its effectiveness with extra fat pressing on your stomach. Losing weight will tighten your sphincter, making the acid stay where it needs to stay.

Turn to aloe vera juice for a soothing way to heal the damage acid reflux can cause. It reduces inflammation in the esophagus and the lining of the stomach itself. All you need is a half a cup before a meal to aid in your digestive regeneration, but remember that it is also a laxative!

Cinnamon gum is a good dessert to get accustomed to. Your salivary glands make more saliva when you chew. Stomach acids are neutralized from saliva. Since you swallow more when you chew gum, this will also wash down any acid remaining in your throat. Fruit-flavored gum will accomplish this too. Gums with a mint flavor actually cause your esophagus sphincter to relax, worsening your acid reflux.

There are certain foods that trigger acid reflux. Therefore, it's in your best interest to avoid these if possible. One example is chocolate. While dark chocolate doesn't appear to be as bad as high-fat milk chocolate, they both contain caffeine and cocoa, which are both known to cause acid reflux.

When you are eating all of your meals, take your time and savor each bite. It is a good idea to put your fork down between each and every bite. This is a good way to stop yourself from overeating, which means a dramatic reduction in all of your acid reflux symptoms.

If over the counter medicine isn't giving you acid reflux relief, try pineapple for a more natural solution. Pineapple contains bromelain, which has been shown to lessen acid reflux symptoms. Bromelain is only present in fresh pineapple or fresh pineapple juice, however. Canned pineapple and store bought juices will not contain bromelain.

Avoid Certain Foods. Some foods are more likely to trigger acid reflux than others. These include caffeine, spicy food, alcohol, tomatoes, chocolate, and any foods that are acidic in nature. If you frequently suffer from acid reflux, consider eliminating these foods from your diet, or at least try not to eat them in the hours before you go to bed.

Engage in moderate exercise every day. Don't overdo it! Extreme exercise can actually interfere with digestion, worsening acid reflux symptoms. However, moderate exercise reduces reflux. Moderate your regimen as best as you can to help digestion. Moderate exercise also helps you to lose weight, reducing heartburn.

Keep your acid reflux at bay by limiting your alcohol intake. Alcohol can produce excess stomach acid. If you must drink alcohol, try drinking at most a couple of glasses and look for alcohol or wine that doesn't worsen your symptoms of acid reflux.

Have an early dinner. Eating too close to bedtime is a prime cause of acid reflux. If your stomach is still digesting your dinner when you retire, the combination of increased stomach activity and a horizontal position is a recipe for disaster. Try to eat dinner a minimum of three hours before bed.

Now that you've been told the tips that have been given to you in this article, you need to focus on a good plan for making sure that you bring them to fruition. You don't want to suffer through your acid reflux any more of your days. Put the information you've read to good use as you work towards a better life without acid reflux.
